Introducing our first artist, the Neo-Expressionist Hunt Slonem

Artist Hunt Slonem's Neo-expressionist paintings and sculptures have awarded him a well-regarded reputation and a large following within the commercial art world. Born during the Chinese Zodiac's Year of the Rabbit in 1951, his connection to rabbits is deep-rooted. Befittingly, bunnies have become one of his most successful and recognizable subjects. After graduating with a degree in painting and art history from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1972, Slonem further honed his skills at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

Inspired by his early travels to exotic destinations, Slonem's artistic style revolves around vibrant colors and energetic brushstrokes, setting him apart and making his work instantly recognizable. Nature serves as a significant muse, with his art featuring signature motifs such as butterflies, birds, and his celebrated bunnies.

Slonem is best known for his iconic "Bunny" series, an ongoing collection featuring whimsical bunnies in various colors and poses. The charm of these works has garnered widespread acclaim amongst collectors and institutions, decorating galleries, museums, and private homes globally. Concurrently, Slonem has become equally well-known for his extravagant and expansive homes and studios, which serve as creative havens for the artist to transform visions into lively and expressive art.

From his early career in New York to the establishment of his artistic legacy, Hunt Slonem's journey is a testament to the dynamic evolution of a visionary artist. Slonem continues to captivate global audiences, with his playful and ever-evolving practice. Dive into Hunt Slonem's art, where every stroke tells a story, each piece shows the endless possibilities of artistic expression, and bunnies hop into the hearts of art enthusiasts around the world.

Slonem has gained international recognition with works in the permanent collections of 250 museums and galleries worldwide, including renowned institutions such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Funacío Joan Miró, and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
